A lot of people said that this movie is a "must-watch" and that they were "blown away" by the stunning visual effects so I also thought of watching it even though I didn't like the trailer.
Dada said he gets dizzy with 3D so we just went to a regular cinema. I plan to watch it in 3D with my sib come New Year.
Pandora is a primitive and hostile planet with lush supplies of unobtainium. One of its inhabitants is a tribe called the Na'vi. They can communicate or "bond" with everything around them by linking their hair strands (weird but fresh concept LoL). Apart from that, it's just a Pocahontas remake and nothing more. The story is very predictable.

Disney's "A Christmas Carol" is something that I anticipated considering that 1) it's a Disney film, 2) it's got top-notch animation and 3) it stars Jim Carrey!
Unfortunately, how the story was told and how some of the actors mimic the British accent killed everything.
Visual effects are stunning than their previous ones. The story is old but I don't know it. Nonetheless, I wasn't able to appreciate it. Rendition is boring and sometimes scary. There's nothing fresh here.

"Carl Fredricksen spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8-year old Junior Wilderness Explorer named Russell) gives him a new lease on life." === Yahoo Movies
It has been months since I anticipated the release of this film and I did not regret watching it twice on different occasions (Friday afternoon with my siblings then Saturday night with my boyfriend).
PIXAR NEVER FAILS TO AMAZE!!! This is their 10th consecutive wonder and might be another award-winning film from Pete Docter. Both the animation and the story are SUPERB!
The animation is crisp and clear, and they brought the lighting and texture effects to another level!!! I admire and envy their staff at the same time.
PIXAR brought the usual mix of contrasting characters to make the storyline interesting. I found it a bit odd that a 78-year old retired balloon maker and a 92-year old shamed explorer can still do so many things. IRL, men would be affixed in their wheelchairs already. I guess PIXAR just wants to convey that old age shouldn't be a hindrance to continue dreaming and living it.

"Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simmering with jealousy but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again. " -- Yahoo! Movies
Dada and I watched this in TriNoma, hoping that we could get the best seats --- the lazy boys. Unfortunately, we came in a bit late and six out of seven movie houses showing HP6 were jam-packed!!! Each of the ticket counters had people falling in line maybe for up to 20 meters. It took us about 30 minutes before we got our ticket and we availed the not-so-good seats for the 2nd screening already.
The movie was long, and -- like always -- had more characters introduced. It's really a pain to remember names especially for someone like me who has never read any of the HP books. There were so many things discussed and it made me dizzy. I am not an HP fan and I told Dada that I wanted to watch this movie just for the sake of not being left out.
IMO, there was nothing much to be excited about but the Snape character and how Voldemort managed to "live".

"The sub zero heroes are back. Scrat is still trying to nab the ever elusive nut, while maybe finding true love. Manny and Ellie await the birth of their mini-mammoth. Diego the saber toothed tiger wonders if he's growing too soft and Sid the sloth gets into trouble when he creates his own makeshift family by hijacking some dinosaur eggs. On a mission to rescue the hapless Sid, the gang ventures into a mysterious underground world, where they have some close encounters with dinosaurs, battle flora and fauna, run amuck and meet a relentless, one eyed, dino-hunting weasel named Buck." -- Yahoo! We have been anticipating this movie together with PIXAR's "Up" ... It had been a veeeerrryyyy long wait but it was somehow worth it. There were many funny moments. It also brought back my inquisitiveness for dinosaurs. Although, it was not as epic as the first movie and many things in this movie appear illogical.

"With the help of the Autobots, the soldiers of NEST, and an old adversary-turned-ally, Sam and Mikaela must uncover the secret history of the Transformers presence on earth, and the sacrifices that have to be made to save it from an ancient threat sworn on returning here for revenge... an ancient Decepticon named THE FALLEN." -- Yahoo! It was great seeing Shia Labeouf back in action. I like his voice and it makes me laugh when he babbles! It reminds me of the penguin he portrayed in Surf's Up [link]. Megan Fox's eyes are to be envied. *sigh*
Anyway, the movie itself was very entertaining but it didn't have the "Wow!" factor that the prequel had.

"What would you do if you got a second shot at life? Class of 1989, Mike O'Donnell is a star on his high school basketball court with a college scout in the stands and a bright future in his grasp. But instead, he decides to throw it all away to share his life with his girlfriend Scarlett and the baby he just learned they are expecting. Almost 20 years later, Mike's glory days are decidedly behind him. His marriage to Scarlett has fallen apart, he has been passed over for a promotion at work, his teenage kids think he is a loser, and he has been reduced to crashing with his high school nerd-turned-techno-billionaire best friend Ned. But Mike is given another chance when he is miraculously transformed back to the age of 17. Unfortunately, Mike may look 17 again, but his thirtysomething outlook is totally uncool in the class of 2009. And in trying to recapture his best years, Mike could lose the best things that ever happened to him." Yahoo Movies
At first, my boyfriend and I didn't want to watch the film because 1) Zack Efron looks gay and 2) any film containing Efron is cheezy and overrated. After some thinking, we decided to watch it since the story might be interesting - similar to Back to the Future.
Well, it's worth it!
There was never a dull moment. Each scene is a screw-up of the characters which gave hilarious outcomes!
What we liked most is Mike's bestfriend because he totally PWNS!!! Dada said "Nerds win in the long run." and I so AGREE!!!!

"When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall. Alerted to the threat of this new monster, the military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound. There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of other monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, The President is persuaded by General W.R. Monger to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction." Yahoo Movies
The trailers were so funny that's why I wanted to watch this Dreamworks product. There were so many things I didn't expect!
The Beverly Hills Cop theme "Axel F" revealed my age! LoL! The President reminded me of my former boss - they have an uncanny physical resemblance! XD
Although the background of each character was funny and unique, the whole plot was very predictable. So, aside from the animation and the inside jokes, there's nothing much to look at.

"A man signs up for a self-help program based on one simple principle: say yes to everything... and anything. At first, unleashing the power of "yes" transforms his life in amazing and unexpected ways, but he soon discovers that opening up his life to endless possibilities can have its drawbacks" -- Yahoo Movies
I can't imagine myself saying "YES" to every request people ask of me. I just CAN'T! Anyway, this is soooooooo hilarious! It's a good come-back film of Jim Carrey. Although movie critics didn't give it praise, I still enjoyed watching it. Zooey Deschanel's clothes are TOTAL LUV! Especially her black coat with red linings. OMG! I want one~~~

"Mo Folchart possesses a secret ability to bring characters from books to life when he reads them aloud. But when Mo accidentally brings a power-hungry villain from a rare children's fable to life, the villain kidnaps Mo's daughter and demands Mo bring other evil fictional characters to life. In an attempt to rescue his daughter, Mo assembles a disparate group of friends --both real and magic--and embarks on a journey to save her and set things right. " - Yahoo Movies
Hmmm, I dunno... Dada wanted to watch it so we did, as part of our movie house raid (3 movies in 1 day). CGI is good. Plot is good. Acting is so-so. I dunno, there's just something I didn't like about the film... I dunno exactly what it is.. Is it the overall "audience impact" ??? Dunno... Gah, I just didn't like it.
