"Carl Fredricksen spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8-year old Junior Wilderness Explorer named Russell) gives him a new lease on life." === Yahoo Movies
It has been months since I anticipated the release of this film and I did not regret watching it twice on different occasions (Friday afternoon with my siblings then Saturday night with my boyfriend).
PIXAR NEVER FAILS TO AMAZE!!! This is their 10th consecutive wonder and might be another award-winning film from Pete Docter. Both the animation and the story are SUPERB!
The animation is crisp and clear, and they brought the lighting and texture effects to another level!!! I admire and envy their staff at the same time.
PIXAR brought the usual mix of contrasting characters to make the storyline interesting. I found it a bit odd that a 78-year old retired balloon maker and a 92-year old shamed explorer can still do so many things. IRL, men would be affixed in their wheelchairs already. I guess PIXAR just wants to convey that old age shouldn't be a hindrance to continue dreaming and living it.

"What would you do if you got a second shot at life? Class of 1989, Mike O'Donnell is a star on his high school basketball court with a college scout in the stands and a bright future in his grasp. But instead, he decides to throw it all away to share his life with his girlfriend Scarlett and the baby he just learned they are expecting. Almost 20 years later, Mike's glory days are decidedly behind him. His marriage to Scarlett has fallen apart, he has been passed over for a promotion at work, his teenage kids think he is a loser, and he has been reduced to crashing with his high school nerd-turned-techno-billionaire best friend Ned. But Mike is given another chance when he is miraculously transformed back to the age of 17. Unfortunately, Mike may look 17 again, but his thirtysomething outlook is totally uncool in the class of 2009. And in trying to recapture his best years, Mike could lose the best things that ever happened to him." Yahoo Movies
At first, my boyfriend and I didn't want to watch the film because 1) Zack Efron looks gay and 2) any film containing Efron is cheezy and overrated. After some thinking, we decided to watch it since the story might be interesting - similar to Back to the Future.
Well, it's worth it!
There was never a dull moment. Each scene is a screw-up of the characters which gave hilarious outcomes!
What we liked most is Mike's bestfriend because he totally PWNS!!! Dada said "Nerds win in the long run." and I so AGREE!!!!

"Based on the groundbreaking revelation that surfing was actually invented by penguins. In the film, a documentary crew will take audiences behind the scenes and onto the waves during the most competitive, heartbreaking and dangerous display of surfing known to man, the Penguin World Surfing Championship." -- Yahoo Movies
I didn't even bother watching the film on the big screen because I was thinking that this is just another penguin movie and that it had senseless hip-hop contents... and I am SOOOOOOOO disappointed for thinking that way!
I watched it on HBO and it was really funny! I even bought a DVD copy and I can't stop laughing even after watching it several times! OMG! Cody has that teenage angst, Geek has the mentor's touch and Joe -- well, he's one oblivious yet totally radical chicken! LoL!
It's rendered as a mocumentary so it made me think that I was watching those reality TV shows I learned to love. Everything looked spontaneous and I was very impressed of the voice actors (and the animators!).
The CGI is also AWESOME especially the waves~ Actually, I was pondering if they mixed the graphics with real photographs and videos. I'm not certain but it's so cool! The CGI can even tantamount or surpass Finding Nemo's!
The OST is also composed of alternative songs I love!
Truly unique from other 3D animation films I've seen in the past.

"For super-dog Bolt, every day is filled with adventure, danger and intrigue - at least until the cameras stop rolling. When the canine star of a hit TV show is accidentally shipped from his Hollywood soundstage to New York City, he begins his biggest adventure yet - a cross-country journey through the real world. Armed only with the delusions that all his amazing feats and powers are real, and with the help of two unlikely traveling companions - a jaded, abandoned housecat named Mittens and TV-obsessed hamster in a plastic ball named Rhino - Bolt discovers he doesn't need superpowers to be a hero." --- Yahoo Movies
An oblivious dog that doesn't know how to be a real dog; a pragmatic cat who teaches the oblivious dog how to become a real dog; matched with a boob tube addict hamster that has a strength of a dozen men!
OMG! I cannot stop laughing while watching the whole film! It is SUPERBLY HILARIOUS!!! LOL! LOL! LOL!
Hands down to Disney once again! I don't think that this film was produced by PIXAR but when I read reviews, I found out that some of the people behind this are part of PIXAR - no wonder it's "KABLAM~!!!"

"After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, Wall-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named Eve. Eve comes to realize that Wall-E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, Wall-E chases Eve across the galaxy." Yahoo Movies
WALL-E is a great film! I watched it with my siblings during my day off and I can assure everyone that it's a MASTERPIECE!!! PIXAR has done it again! From the story to technical stuff - it's just AWESOME! All the characters are given importance regardless of how small their roles are and they're really funny. There are some tear-jerker moments as well as valuable lessons we can get. (hmm just rambling here haha!)
I wonder if the future will really be like this. Hmmmm~
*update Dec.3,2008* I bought a 2-disc DVD of WALL-E and it contains some scenes that were scrapped to give way to better ideas. It also has a short film containing BURN-E, the droid that got locked up when WALL-E and EVE entered the AXIOM. LoL!

"Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po is the biggest fan of Kung Fu around...which doesn't exactly come in handy while working every day in his family's noodle shop. Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five -- Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey -- under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart - and his girth - into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths." - Yahoo Movies
One of the few movies that I can consider PERFECT. It's funny, entertaining and has a lot of good lessons to learn (not to mention the awesome graphics and fight scenes).
*update Nov.21'08* I also grabbed a DVD copy and I learned how the great Chinese chefs made the noodles.
AWESOMENESS!

"Tony Stark is a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man." --- Yahoo! Movies
I have never read any Iron Man comic nor have I watched cartoons of it (if there were any). Although, I still watched the movie with Dada since it is a sci-fi film and it was one of the highly-anticipated shows of the month. I must say that it was worth it.
The story is kinda tragic because of the deaths involved. It also shows how Tony Stark was edified about the irony of his dream - he made the weapons that killed the people he vowed to protect. Another thing I liked about it was how Tony Stark built and set the preferences on the new hot-red suit. The special effects were very impressive!
Robert Downey Jr (Stark) and the rest of the cast all played their roles very well. He and Terrence Howard (Rhodes) had a very good chemistry so I am saddened and I was baffled as to why Marvel replaced the latter on the sequel. Replacing actors and actresses on sequels takes away a part of the story and the overall "feel" of the movie. I just hope that the new piece of the puzzle fits in well.

"Robert Neville is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable and manmade. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City, and maybe the world. But he is not alone. He is surrounded by "the Infected"-victims of the plague who have mutated into carnivorous beings who can only exist in the dark and who will devour or infect anyone or anything in their path. For three years, Neville has spent his days scavenging for food and supplies and faithfully sending out radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. All the while, the Infected lurk in the shadows, watching Neville's every move, waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But his blood is also what The Infected hunt, and Neville knows he is outnumbered and quickly running out of time." --- Yahoo Movies
When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was about a massive alien invasion or something but I guess I was mistaken. It is AWESOME!!! I am not a fan of horror films but Will Smith brought a new meaning to the word "terror" GYAAAHH!!
It still gives me the chills when I remember the scenes of New York without the hustle and bustle (and I get reminded everytime I walk in Makati during a weekend morning because they're uncannily similar -- there's just this deafening silence).
*update March 2008* I bought a 2-DVD Special Edition of I AM LEGEND that features both the theatrical and the alternate endings, plus "the making" and four animated comics depicting the spread of the KV.

"Far Far Away needs a new king, and unless Shrek can find someone else, he'll be stuck with the gig. He sets off to find the only other possible heir, Fiona's forgotten cousin Artie. While Shrek's away, Prince Charming returns to the kingdom for revenge, and Fiona is about to add a little ogre to the posse! Can Shrek, with the help of his loyal friends Donkey and Puss-in-Boots, save the day?" Yahoo! Movies
Overall, the story is really funny and everyone will enjoy watching it - or at least we know we did! CG is so-so and not so fluid, though.
I never thought Snow White can kick ass! LOL!

"Once one of the world's top masked crime fighters, Bob Parr--known to all as 'Mr. Incredible'--fought evil and saved lives on a daily basis. But now fifteen years later, Bob and his wife--a famous superhero in her own right--have adopted civilian identities and retreated to the suburbs to live normal lives with their three kids. Now he's a clock-punching insurance claims adjuster fighting boredom and a bulging waistline. Itching to get back into action, Bob gets his chance when a mysterious communication summons him to a remote island for a top-secret assignment." -- Yahoo Movies
Yeah, this is an old film but I recently bought a 2-disc DVD copy and re-lived the glory days of this PIXAR masterpiece.
I became emotional as well while watching because I can somehow relate to what's going on with the Parr family - my parents are also into some kind of argument close to their dilemma (no, not the 'super power' part, the 'marriage' part). How I wish mom heard what Edna said (and did) to Helen. LoL!
Anyway... As usual, PIXAR did a great job with the story and the animation. I keep laughing at the character design for Syndrome, though. He looks like Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z!
